Museo di Roma in Trastevere
Museo di Roma in Trastevere, also located in the Piazza di Sant'Egidio, is housed in a building of the former Carmelite convent. After the formation of the Italian State, the convent served several different functions, including as a sanatorium for childhood malaria. After the building’s restoration in 1976, it became home to the Museum of Roman Folklore and Poets, displaying works from the Museo Roma collection related to Roman popular traditions. After a renovation, it was reopened in 2000 as the Museo di Roma in Trastevere. The museum currently hosts permanent collections demonstrating Roman life of the 18th and 19th centuries. This is particularly expressed through paintings, prints, and mannequin displays. It also frequently displays temporary photographic exhibitions.
